Coronavirus (COVID-19) – Frequently Asked Questions

Due to the unfortunate spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), we have been receiving lots of enquiries over the phone and via email about our operations during this time. Therefore we have decided to answer the most frequently asked questions in this blog post.


Private tours for £50 for up to 6 people for the rest of March.



1. Are you operating?

We are not currently opening a daily service. We are also no longer offering shared tours. For now we are offering private tours for a maximum of 6 people (£50) who are all in the same household. The group will need to sit at the front end of the boat keeping a safe distance from your chauffeur. Please call us to check if we have availability and to make a booking. All payment will be taken over the phone in advance.

2. What precautions should I take before coming punting?

IMPORTANTLY we ask you not to come punting if you or anyone in your household are displaying CoronaVirus symptoms for the safety of our staff and the general public. You should wash your hands or use a wipe or sanitiser before boarding the boat and on getting off the boat. Please avoid contact with our chauffeur if possible. If you need assistance getting in or out the boat the chauffeur will offer their elbow or shoulder. Please do not come punting if you are in any of the big risk categories.

3. Will I be sharing with other people?

We are no longer offering shared punting tours.

4. Is there anything I should avoid?

Avoid touching your face, touching other people and avoid eating without washing your hands first. Please avoid coming punting if you or anyone in your household is displaying the CoronaVirus symptoms. We will happily reschedule your booking for another date.

5. Is punting safe at the moment?

The government is advising social distancing for everybody. We therefore ask that you only come punting in a group that you are currently living with so this does not go against social distancing rules. By having a maximum of 6 people in a boat the chauffeur is able to keep a safe distance.

6. What if I already have a booking with you?

We are being flexible with our bookings allowing them to change to another date (subject to availability) or receive a credit note valid for 12 months. As per our T’s & C’s, we are also offering 70% refunds for bookings able to go ahead. Customers who are unable to go punting can receive a 100% refund but we would ask you to consider opting for a credit note or 70% refund instead – these are incredibly hard times for small businesses, especially in the tourism sector and any gestures of kindness and good will are hugely appreciated.

7. Can I make a booking for the future?

We are currently unsure of when we will be able to resume operations fully. If you would like to make a booking for the summer please email or call us. This way we can take your details and book you in without taking payment. Once we have a date for reopening we will then contact customers and ask for payments to confirm any future bookings.
