1. Are you operating?
Cambridge is currently in Tier4 which means that our punting tours are closed to the public. We will reopen once it is deemed safe to do so and will depend on information delivered by the government during this COVID-19 pandemic.
2. What if I already have a booking?
Bookings that have been made beyond boxing day can be exchanged to another date (free of charge and subject to availability), or receive a credit note valid for 12 months from the original booking date (this period can be extended), or alternatively receive a refund.
As a small business, during this difficult time, we are asking our customers to consider opting for a reschedule, credit note, or 70% refund instead of a full refund. This will enable us to cover essential costs over the coming months. The tourism and leisure industry is facing a challenging period and any gesture of kindness is greatly appreciated.
3. How do I make a booking?
You can make a booking online using our Traditional Punting Company website or alternatively over the phone. You can book either a Private Punting Tour or a Private Section on a Shared Tour. All bookings should be from the same household or support bubble. If, however you would like to go punting with another group please contact us as we can separate two households/support bubbles with a plastic screen on one punt (maximum of 6 people per household/support bubble). A Private Cambridge Punting Tour has two options either a boat for up to 12 people or a boat for up to 6 people.
Our Traditional Shared Punting Tours are currently not available due to the social distancing regulations in place. Instead we are offering a different option for groups to purchase a private section on a shared punt. This option will be for groups of up to 3 people and up to 6 people. Your group will be given a private section on one of our boats, and a perspex screen will separate you and another group to maintain social distancing.
Whilst our normal cancellation policy applies we are making the following amendments: if you or anyone in your household has COVID-19 symptoms you can cancel your booking up until 9am on the day, you can then either reschedule your booking for another date, receive a credit note or be issued a full refund.
There are two reasons why we may need to cancel your booking. The first is that government advice may change and it may therefore be necessary for us to halt our operations again until such a time as restrictions are eased. The second would be if members of our staff were to contract COVID-19 or display the symptoms and need to self isolate. This could potentially leave us in a position where we are short staffed and are not able to fulfil our bookings. In both cases you will be offered either the opportunity to reschedule or receive a full refund.
5. Can I make a booking for the future?
Yes, you can make a Private Punt Tour or a Private Section on a shared tour booking for 2021. At this present moment in time we are unsure what the social distancing measures will be in time to come, therefore we are offering these two options for the foreseeable and will be updating our website and operations following government advice wherever possible.
